Vaccine Events FAQ

  1. When and Where are the clinics being held?
    The clinics will be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning April 20th.  The clinics will be held on Tuesdays at the Pipefitters Training Center in Mokena and on Wednesdays at The IBEW 134 Training Center in Alsip.
  2. Who is eligible for these events?
    The Laborers’ District Council is sponsoring the events.  Members who are current in their dues are eligible to register.  This will include members who are not currently eligible under the Welfare Plan.  The Welfare Fund will be paying the vaccine administration cost for eligible members and the Union will be paying the vaccine administration cost for ineligible members as long as their dues are current.
  3. Are spouses or dependents eligible to register for these events?
    Yes, spouses or dependents over age 18 are welcome to register also.
  4. What information is needed to register?
    The member will have to enter his/her Local Union number, Union Membership ID, BCBS Group number and BCBS ID number along with personal information (name, address, email address, telephone number, race, ethnicity, etc.).
  5. What will happen if a non-Union member or dependent registers?
    The registration list will be validated against the union’s membership roster and Welfare Fund eligibility roster.    Appointments will be cancelled if the registrant is not on the Union’s membership roster.  We will try to notify the registrant of the cancellation in advance of their appointment date.
  6. Which vaccine is going to be administered?
    The vaccines are allocated each week by the County Health Department.  We expect to receive two-dose vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna) for the first few weeks.  The member will register for the first dose appointment through the website.  On the day of the event, they will be automatically registered for their second dose (three weeks later for Pfizer and four weeks later for Moderna). 
  7. What if no appointments are available?
    Members should be encourage to check back regularly.  Cancelled appointments will be immediately made available on the website.
  8. Who is administering the vaccines?
    Staff from U Chicago Medicine will be administering the vaccines.
